Title: confusion

This is my entry for the CGSociety 2D/3D FUSION competition. We were to merge the elements of 2D and 3D art into one.

This image artwork is based on the expressions of a Chameleon lizard. Already with its unique facial ornamentation (such as nasal protrusions, or horn-like projections) I decided to further this uniqueness with a colorful confusing body work to convey his emotions and mood. Changing color is as much of an expression of the physical and psychological condition for the lizard as is color playing a major part in communication and expression in creative art.

I have used outstanding colors such as pink, green, red, orange, green, black, brown and yellow and 3D elements fused with 2D elements forming parts of his body as if the lizard is in a state of confusion with its background. To further the 3D elements I have projected smaller detailed squares off the artwork (seen with a drop shadows).

Their eyes are the most distinctive among the reptiles; hence I have emphasized this with a unique 3D fractural.
